Governance

The International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development calls for a wide mobilization of organizations and individuals, with a substantial effort of coordination of all contributions. The Earth-Humanity Coalition supports the International Decade. It is designed to maximize the chances for an effective and successful implementation of its goals. Its organization will adapt, as its projects will develop. Currently, three bodies are in place.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly includes the representatives of the member organizations, involved in knowledge co-production for sustainability: international scientific unions, science academies, laboratories, universities, research institutes and organizations, funding agencies, local authorities, NGOs and all kind of associations and networks. Together, they are ensuring a wide representation of scientific communities and civil societies from the entire world. 

STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee is a group of committed personalities, in charge of the definition of the guidelines for the activities of EHC and of a regular monitoring and feedback structures on its program of activities. It should represent the diversity of EHC membership, with a gender and geographical balance. Its members can represent EHC to its partners. A representative of UNESCO attends its meeting.

INTERNATIONAL SECRETARIAT

The Secretariat is a permanent structure under the authority of the Steering Committee. It has the operational capacities to implement and coordinate the activities of EHC and works in close collaboration with UNESCO and other relevant actors. In its constitution, the principles of inclusion and diversity will be held paramount across geography, social status, ethnicity, gender, and other equity dimensions. It is organized un a decentralized way, with members living in different parts of the Globe.
